Sandwell Green Party is standing 15 candidates for this year's local election. Meet some of our candidates:
John Macefield- Bristnall
John has 15 years experience in local government working for Sandwell and Walsall Councils and has also worked as a civil servant. John has helped residents get the help they need when they faced issues. He has helped with litter picks, alongside Mike Allen - helping keep Bristnall clean and safe.
Fabienne Ottridge - St. Paul's
Fabienne works as a French translator in the UK. Despite meeting her partner in France, she has always had a soft spot for England. She notes that she loves British music and culture.
Fabienne is a big believer in democracy. She believes great things start at a local level. She believes a grassroots approach can help address the real issues that face us.
Fabienne believes that the Green Party can make a change and offer a real alternative. She is proud to represent the Green Party as a French and European citizen, and as a woman. “France is my birthplace but England has become my home.”
Keir Williams - Tividale
Keir has been a resident of Tividale since a very young age. He is passionate about seeing Tividale be the best it can be, and believes in the wellbeing of its residents.
Keir has most recently been helping residents deal with landowner Greenbelt, who force homeowners to pay money for poorly managed land. He wholly believes in residents standing up for themselves and feeling empowered.
Dani Waugh Hroncová - Great Barr with Yew Tree
Dani is originally from Slovakia. She moved to the UK to be with her partner and to raise her family. She is a happy mother of three; her family are very important to her.
Dani is very community oriented and believes her local community is one the most important parts of her life. She is a volunteer and member of a local community-run green space. She believes the better we can make our communities, the better it is for all of us.
Mike Allen - Abbey
Having grown up and lived in Abbey for most of his adult life, Mike takes a great interest in the welfare of his local community and has involved himself in various local projects. These have included helping with the clearing and maintenance of Thimblemill Brook and community litter picking.
He also attended community-led meetings with West Midlands Police in an effort to reduce neighbourhood crime, and has assisted with the organisation and running of the Bearwood Street Festival.
